Let's Sip Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2026
Let's Sip ("Let's Sip," "we," "us") is a social coffee app, operated by Alexis Becerra. We built it to collect as little about you as possible. This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We never see your GPS location. Check-ins record only which coffee shop you're at, and we delete that when you leave or after 30 minutes.
- Your check-in history is stored only on your iPhone, not on our servers.
- Shop chat messages are deleted after 24 hours.
- We remove location and camera details from photos on your phone before they're uploaded.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. We don't sell or share your data.
- You can delete your account and everything you've posted from within the app, at any time.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address (used only to sign you in and for important account messages), plus the display name, username and home city you choose. You can optionally add a short bio.
Things you post. Sips (a photo, caption, drink type and the shop you tag, along with that shop's location rounded to about 1 kilometer so Sips can appear in the "Nearby" feed), comments, likes, community tags for shops (like "WiFi" or "Study"), and shop chat messages.
Check-ins. When you check in, we store which coffee shop you're at and when. We keep only your current check-in, and delete it when you check out, when you check in somewhere else, or after 30 minutes, whichever comes first.
Social connections. Who you follow and who follows you, and people you've blocked.
Reports and moderation. If you report content, we store the report, including a copy of the reported text and which account it's about, so we can review it (even after a chat message expires). The person you report isn't told who reported them. If an account is suspended for breaking our community guidelines, we keep a record of the suspension until the account is deleted.
Technical logs. Our hosting provider automatically keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, to operate and secure the service. They're deleted after about 7 days.
2. Information we do not collect
- Your GPS location. To check you in, your iPhone compares its own location with the shop's location on the device. Your coordinates are never stored by us. To show the "Nearby" feed, the app sends an approximate location (rounded to about 1 kilometer) with the request; it's used only to find nearby Sips and isn't saved.
- Photo metadata. Before a photo leaves your phone, the app removes its embedded data (such as GPS coordinates, camera model and timestamps) and resizes it.
- Your contacts, advertising identifier or browsing activity.
- Analytics or tracking. The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
3. Information stored only on your device
Your check-in history, and the badges calculated from it, stay on your iPhone in encrypted storage. We never receive them. Deleting the app or your account removes them.
4. How we use information
We use your information only to run Let's Sip:
- to sign you in
- to show your posts, check-ins and chat messages to the people allowed to see them
- to show shops' anonymous "here now" counts
- to keep the community safe, by reviewing reports and enforcing blocks
- to respond to you
We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.
5. Who can see what
- "Here now": by default, other people see only an anonymous count of people at a shop. Your name appears only if you choose "Friends" (people who mutually follow you) or "Everyone" in Settings → Privacy.
- Sips: visible to signed-in Let's Sip users, including in the "Nearby" feed of people near the shop you tagged, or only to followers you approve if you turn on Private account. A Sip reported by several people may be hidden until we review it.
- Shop chats: anyone can read a shop's chat, but people who aren't signed in only ever see aliases like "Guest ☕️ 42", never names. You can also choose to always chat under an alias.
- Blocking: people you block can't see your profile, Sips, chat messages or your name in "here now," and you won't see theirs.
- Your city can be hidden from your profile.
6. Service providers
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and photo storage in the United States. It processes data only on our behalf.
- Apple Maps provides coffee shop listings and maps. To show nearby shops, the app asks Apple for places in an area around you, rounded to about 1 kilometer. Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy. We don't receive or store this.
- Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email address. When you delete your account, we ask Apple to revoke Let's Sip's access to your Apple Account.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
7. How long we keep information
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Current check-in | Until you check out, check in elsewhere, or 30 minutes |
| Chat messages | 24 hours |
| Reports | Until resolved, then 30 days |
| Suspension records | Until the account is deleted |
| Server logs | About 7 days |
| Account, Sips, photos, comments, likes, tags, follows and blocks | Until you delete them or delete your account |
8. Your choices and rights
- Change what's visible: in Settings → Privacy.
- Edit your profile: in Settings.
- Delete a Sip: at any time.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything you've posted from our servers, and clears your visit history from your phone.
- Get a copy of your data: email us at support@letssip.app and we'll send it within 30 days.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, and to access, correct and delete it, without being treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. To make a request, email support@letssip.app. We may need to confirm it's your account before acting on the request.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to our database is restricted by security rules that enforce the privacy settings above. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit the risk by keeping as little data as we can.
10. Children
You must be 13 or older to use Let's Sip. It is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes
If we make significant changes, we'll update the effective date and let you know in the app before the changes take effect.
